Thank you for all your comments.....when my internet finally decided to work long enough for me to do something i tried the photobucket. it seemed to work....i copied the code, the preview looked right so i pushed "publish post" this is what came up at the top of the page...

what???? so now what? that's what it was saying when i tried the slide show from slide.com too. i know i posted the right code, i've done this before on other websites so why wont it work on this one?

yep...it does that on photobucket--here is how you do it!
go to layout
go to add an element on you sidebar
click add HTML code
paste in your photobucket code
click save
now go back to layout and click edit on the HTML code you just added
copy it
now go to new post
make sure that you have the html tab on
(there are 2 tabs-- one is html the other is compose)
now paste it in
click save
WALA..slideshow
now you can go back to Layout, click on edit Html and delete the slideshow on your sidebar

Alyssa, thank allyson for me. I was having the same problem and followed her instructions and it worked like a charm. I use picasa so it happens with more than just photobucket. Anyway thanks for the help.
